Meet our vibrant artists

AUDREY SMITH

Audrey Smith is a contemporary figurative artist. Born in Quebec, her studio practice is now in Caledon, Ontario.

Audrey's paintings are recognized for her chaotic line work and energetic, visceral brushstrokes. Layers of paint and charcoal are etched and sanded, giving her work a sense of visual history. The undeniable passion found in the application of her mediums is juxtaposed with a sense of gentle solitude, introspection, silence and nuanced shadow.

In addition to solo exhibitions, Audrey has participated in numerous juried Canadian and international group shows. She has been an award finalist in the Carrousel Du Louvre International (France) and twice in the international "Figureworks" exhibition (held in Ottawa, Canada).

An elected member of The Society of Canadian Artists, Audrey now has works in Canada, the US and Europe.

"My work explores the essence of people, capturing crystal slivers of time, transparent layers of reality and being."

MONA TURNER

Rigaud based painter Mona Turner has been honing her skills in oil painting for more than a decade. Originally an architectural illustrator, Mona blended illustration expertise with a fascination for both contemporary art and art history, bringing about a perfect marriage of her two passions.

Art history offers a window into the preoccupations of artists in times past, and a rich source of ideas to revisit from a contemporary standpoint.

JUDITH HARVEY

Judith Harvey hails from Montreal, Canada. While studying art history at University of Toronto (B.A.) she developed a strong appreciation for the classics, in particular Dutch still life and interiors. With her artwork, Judith hopes to capture the essence of the subject matter and to convey it with simplicity, using a minimalist approach to theme, colour and form. Both her landscapes and still life convey a feeling of timelessness and serenity, a moment captured and an homage to the beauty which surrounds us. Judith is currently residing in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec. Her work can be found in private collections Internationally.

Memberships: SCA (Society of Canadian Artists), Hudson Artists Association.

Former memberships: International Guild of Realism, Lakeshore Artists Association.

Born in Montreal, Sophie has harbored a passion for art since childhood. She studied art, fashion design and interior design, and has been an accomplished interior designer for the past 25 years. It wasn’t until 2000 that life offered her the freedom to also fully embrace her passion for painting and sculpting. Sophie quickly compensated for lost time, participating in multiple exhibitions across Canada and the United States.

Her art is a vibrant expression of her feelings and personality, engaging her imagination to create pieces that resonate deeply. Merging abstract techniques with expressionism, Sophie captures animals, humans, and natural scenes, infusing them with strength, emotion, and motion. This unique approach not only brings the subjects to life but also invites viewers to delve into their interpretations and engage their own imaginations. Each piece created is imbued with meaning or a story, offering a unique insight into her inner world and inviting the viewer to embark on an emotional journey, to feel and discover a part of their own story.

ALLISON ROBIN SMITH

JOANNA OLSON

An oil painter for most of my life with the occasional foray into watercolour, I have also been fortunate to have partnered with several outstanding people in the categories of Illustration and Interior Design which led to many interesting projects that included the painting of murals on and off the island of Montreal. I continue to explore new methods of creating especially with mono-printing, fabric, collage and digital art.

Inspired by the village I live in, I use references found during nature walks in Hudson and surrounding areas in much of my illustration work.

Primarily self taught, I have always enjoyed working with a diversity of subjects, exploring painting techniques, always trying to find an appropriate way of expressing the feeling that attracted me to a subject.
